Alternative Student Finance Solutions for UK Students
To ensure participation and choice are open to all, the UK Government has introduced primary legislation which will, subject to Parliament, allow the Secretary of State to provide alternative student finance consistent with the principles of Islamic finance alongside loans and grants.

Postgraduate Master’s Loans Policy Equality Analysis of some students, particularly Muslim students, who might feel unable for religious reasons to take on interest bearing loans to support their education. Work on the alternative student finance model is on-going. This work includes careful consideration of where and how alternative student finance can deliver the most benefit for students across the system, and of the potential provision of an alternative student finance product equivalent to the master’s loan.
